Despite the drearily smoky Albertan/BC sky and the warnings to stay indoors and avoid any outdoor exercise, life goes on. I am still cycling to and from work everyday and I will be running my first 10km race tomorrow (August 21st). Have I felt a difference in the air quality while cycling? It’s hard to tell because I already have sports induced asthma but don’t bother using my inhaler for my 10-minute bicycle ride, which sometimes induces shortness of breath. My true test will be tomorrow’s race. I am hoping that I won’t be significantly affected by the diminished air quality. However, if I am disappointed by my finish time, I will have the smoke to blame.
